My Daughter loves Puppets

Lately, my daughter has started watching this show Oobi. It's a show where hands are the puppets. They have little eyes on there hands on a ring or something, and sometimes they have a little accessory like a hat or a bow. My daughter really likes this show so I started to imitate it with my own hand which of course she loves as well. Now she comes up to me and says, "Let me talk to Puppet," usually I am in the middle of doing something when she asks so I'll say something like, "Puppet's helping Mommy do something right now, hold on." It's really cute though.

Anyway, I thought since she liked these puppets so much it might be fun to make one for her. So, I came up with a little pattern for a puppet. I like to call it pocket puppet, for obvious reasons. It's small. I made it with just a few scraps of felt, cardboard, glue, and thread. I would imagine someone could make this in less than an hour. It is very customizable too. I'm probably going to make some more in different colors, genders, themes, etc.

Another great thing about it is that I can use it or my daughter can use it, so it's pretty versatile.

Cute Little Amigurumi Ballerina Pattern

I ordered a ballerina doll pattern from a shop on etsy last night. The store's name is owlishly. I always wanted to see what they were like. I'm a pretty decent crocheter, so I decided it would be worth it to give it a try. I think I'm going to make the pattern for my daughter for her upcoming birthday. She is going to be three and that's when she gets to start ballet school. She is always talking about when she gets to start dance school, so I know she will love this. The woman at owlishly makes a lot of really cute amigurumi crochet patterns.
Her blog is http://owlishly.typepad.com/ and you can see some of the other crochet projects she's been up to.

The family

This weekend we went to a cousin's house and I got some really cute pictures of my son and his cousin. They are both about the same age. So cute.

They are growing so fast. I can't believe my daughter is going to be 3 soon. My little girl got sick last night, poor thing. I think she is feeling much better now though.

Here is a picture of me wearing one of my newest hair clip designs. I crocheted some yarn and also used some silk flowers and a glass bead to make it. It's up for sale in my etsy store at steenta.etsy.com
I have been making a lot more items for my store. New designs and color combinations. I'll be putting them up for sale next week in my etsy store.

New Barrettes!

I made some really cute Fourth of July hair barrettes yesterday. They are made out of felt. I just did some hand stitching on them then sewed and glued them onto the barrettes. They are imperfect on purpose, I think it makes them more special.

My new camera!

I am so happy with my new camera! It came in the mail yesterday. Right when I got it, I started to charge the camera's battery, charging my old camera's battery used to take a whole day, this one was done in a little over two hours. I took a coupe of pics with it. I am so happy with it. I even re-did my etsy store. It looks a lot better now with the pictures I took. No blurry pictures. I haven't used it that much yet, but already it is a big improvement from my old digital camera.
Here is a picture I took of one of the bracelets I made. It is also listed in my etsy store for sale. Just go to

I bought some new scrapbook paper and will be making some new necklaces soon. I will post them here after I make them. I can't wait to get started I just need some spare time. Even right now I am multi tasking. I am feeding my son and typing with one hand. It's the only way I can get things done.
